Nigerian forward Rinsola Babajide was on target for AS Roma Women, but the Italian champions were forced to settle for a 1–1 draw against Inter Milan Women in the first leg of their Coppa Italia Femminile semi-final.
The match took place under the floodlights at the Stadio Tre Fontane in Rome, where Roma looked set for victory before a late equalizer kept the tie finely balanced ahead of the second leg.
Tight First Half Ends Goalless
Roma controlled much of the possession during the opening stages but struggled to break down Inter’s disciplined defensive structure.
Despite creating several opportunities and forcing multiple corners, the first half ended 0–0, with both sides cautious in their approach.
Babajide Breaks the Deadlock

The breakthrough arrived in the 52nd minute when Babajide capitalized on a precise pass from Evelyne Viens.
The Nigerian international calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to give Roma a deserved lead.
The goal continued Babajide’s strong run of form after her recent international exploits with the Nigeria women’s national football team, where she recorded a goal and assist in a 3–1 victory over the Cameroon women’s national football team.
Since joining Roma from Liverpool F.C. Women in 2024, the 27-year-old attacker has steadily grown into a key figure in Serie A Femminile.
Wullaert Levels Late from the Spot
Roma appeared to be in control of the match, finishing with 15 shots and nine corners, compared to Inter’s 11 attempts.
However, the visitors struck late in the 87th minute when Belgian star Tessa Wullaert converted a penalty to bring Inter level.
The spot-kick followed a controversial foul decision inside the penalty area, sparking protests from Roma players and supporters.
All to Play for in Milan
Roma had reached the semi-finals after defeating S.S. Lazio Women in the quarter-finals, while Inter battled past their own knockout opponents to reach the last four.
The decisive second leg will take place in Milan later in March, where the winner will advance to the final scheduled for May 24–25.
With the tie evenly poised at 1–1, Roma will once again look to Babajide’s pace and finishing ability to guide them to the final, while Inter will rely on Wullaert’s experience to try and complete an upset.
For Babajide, the match further highlights the growing influence of Nigerian talent in European women’s football.
