Chelsea’s ongoing struggles in the striker department have once again come under scrutiny, with former Blues defender William Gallas identifying Victor Osimhen as the ideal solution to the club’s long-standing centre-forward problem.
The Blues have experimented with several options this season, including Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and Marc Guiu. However, none of the trio has been able to consistently deliver the presence, movement, and goals required to lead the line for a club with Chelsea’s ambitions. The shortage of a reliable striker has been evident in the club’s inconsistent performances in the Premier League.
Despite years of transfer links and even a late attempt to sign Osimhen last summer, Chelsea has yet to secure the Nigerian star. Speaking to OLBG, Gallas made it clear he believes the solution has been obvious all along.
“Chelsea need an experienced striker — and that player is Osimhen.”
Gallas highlighted Chelsea’s lack of an experienced, elite-level forward as a key factor holding back the squad.
“To be honest, Chelsea, at the moment, I think they are missing one experienced player,” Gallas said. “A player who can put Chelsea really on top for me is Victor Osimhen.”
The former French international went on to express disappointment that Chelsea has not been able to complete the transfer.
“I wanted to see him sign for Chelsea. Unfortunately, it did not happen. But yeah, my dream is to see him play for Chelsea because with his quality, I think he can adapt to Chelsea perfectly.”
Osimhen, currently one of Europe’s most feared forwards, continues to attract interest from several elite clubs. His pace, power, pressing intensity, and clinical finishing have made him a standout option for teams seeking a true No. 9.
As Chelsea navigates the season under their new head coach, the clamor for a decisive striker continues to grow. Gallas’ remarks reinforce a sentiment widely shared among fans: without a forward of Osimhen’s caliber, the Blues may continue to fall short of their aspirations.
