Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen finally broke the deadlock with a header on the stroke of half-time after a series of missed chances in the opening 45 minutes against Tunisia.
Osimhen’s goal, coming from a precise cross by Ademola Lookman, gives Nigeria a deserved 1-0 lead at the break in their Africa Cup of Nations clash.
The first half saw Nigeria dominate possession and create several chances, but Osimhen’s previous attempts were either wide or disallowed.
His persistence paid off just before the whistle, as he capitalized on Lookman’s delivery to head the ball into the bottom corner.
Despite Tunisia’s late pressure, which saw them earn their first corner of the match, Nigeria looked the more dangerous side, with Akor Adams playing a key role in both defensive and offensive transitions.
Nigeria fans will hope Osimhen’s yellow card for celebrating his goal doesn’t come back to haunt them later in the tournament.
