Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, is set to depart for Morocco on Wednesday, October 8, aboard Royal Air Maroc, as it enters the final phase of preparations for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The team will arrive in Casablanca, Morocco’s industrial and economic hub, before heading to Rabat for the tournament. While in Casablanca, the Flamingos will continue their build-up with two high-profile international friendlies. They will face New Zealand on October 10, followed by a match against Paraguay on October 14. Following these encounters, the team will move to Rabat on October 15 to settle into the official FIFA hotel, where all teams will be accommodated for the competition.
The Flamingos have been drawn in Group D alongside Canada, France, and Samoa. Nigeria will begin their campaign against Canada on October 19, followed by a match with France on October 22. Both games will take place at the Football Academy Mohammed VI in Sale, with kick-off times set for 8 p.m. Nigerian time. The final group stage match will be against Samoa on October 25 at 5 p.m. at the same venue.
Head Coach Bankole Olowookere’s squad heads into the tournament with confidence, having played 10 preparatory matches and scored an impressive 44 goals without conceding. With a well-balanced squad and dominant form in the build-up, the Flamingos are determined to improve upon their quarter-final finish at the last U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
