The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a stern query to Warri Wolves following reports of the suspension of the club’s head coach, Napoleon Aluma, by the Delta State Sports Commission.
In a letter titled “Notarization and Registration of Contracts” and signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, the league body criticized the club’s non-compliance with laid-down procedures regarding the proper engagement and registration of technical staff contracts.
The NPFL referenced its 2025/26 Framework and Rules, specifically Section B, Articles 6 and 11, which mandate clubs to submit the contracts of all technical and management officials to the League Secretariat.
“You are in breach of these sections as Warri Wolves FC have not submitted the contracts of its officials to the League Board,” the letter stated. The club was given a 24-hour deadline to submit the required documentation, including that of the reportedly suspended head coach.
Failure to comply, the letter warned, could result in sanctions that would see the club’s technical team barred from the bench during future NPFL matches. “Note that failure to comply with this instruction will lead to the restriction of your technical team from accessing the technical area,” the NPFL cautioned.
In a follow-up comment to NPFL Media, Owumi emphasized that this enforcement is not exclusive to Warri Wolves. He advised coaches across the league to ensure they possess valid contracts and are aware of their rights.
“I must admonish all coaches to get hold of their contracts and lodge a report with the NPFL when there is a violation of the terms. It is the responsibility of the aggrieved to petition the league at all times,” he added.
