Bayelsa Queens Strengthen Squad with Chidi Harmony Ahead of New NWFL Season

Bayelsa Queens Football Club of Yenagoa have unveiled a new addition to their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season, as preparations intensify for a strong campaign.

The newly signed player, Chidi Harmony, joins the team on loan from Imo Strikers FC. A versatile forward and utility player, Harmony was part of Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

During the unveiling ceremony held at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Wednesday, Chairman of Bayelsa Queens FC, Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala, expressed optimism that the new signing would play a crucial role in the team’s push for a continental ticket.

“We have decided to recruit new players who we believe have the quality to help us achieve our goals. With the calibre of talent we now have, and the continued support from the Bayelsa State Government and other stakeholders, we are confident of our chances this season,” said Apreala.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Douye Diri for his unwavering support, stating that the team’s progress would not have been possible without the Governor’s passion and commitment to sports development.

Apreala further acknowledged the contributions of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and the Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Baraladei Daniel Igali (OLY), as well as other stakeholders who have supported the club’s journey.
