In a move that has been widely lauded by the local sporting community, the Kano State government has provided a charter flight for its contingent traveling to the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State. The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter, has publicly praised the decision, hailing it as a significant step forward for sports development in the region.

Zaharadeen Saleh, Chairman of SWAN Kano State Chapter, expressed the association’s gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso. “We commend our illustrious Governor and Honourable Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso for providing a charter flight to carry our contingents,” Saleh stated. “This gesture will undoubtedly yield positive results, and we hope this has come to stay.”

Saleh emphasized that the charter flight is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to supporting athletes. The SWAN Chairman also noted that Commissioner Kwankwaso’s presence with the contingent in Asaba would serve as a crucial source of motivation for the athletes.

In a related appeal, the SWAN Kano State Chapter has called on the government to provide new, modern vehicles for the management and players of Kano Pillars FC. According to Saleh, this would “not only boost the morale of the players but also enhance their performance,” addressing the team’s ongoing transportation challenges.
