Bayelsa Queens FC, popularly known as the Prosperity Girls, have arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the 2025 WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Nigerian representatives will proceed to Yamoussoukro, the official host city of the tournament, where they will begin their final preparations. The team, led by Head Coach Whyte Ogbonda, is scheduled to hold a training session today before making the trip to the competition venue on Friday.
Bayelsa Queens have been sharpening their style of play, discipline, and team chemistry in the build-up to the tournament. They are drawn in Group B alongside Ghana’s Police Ladies, ASKO of Togo, and Sam Nelly of the Benin Republic.
The qualifiers will take place from August 23 to September 5, 2025. The Prosperity Girls will open their campaign against the Police Ladies on August 24.
Club Chairman, Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, stating that they are in Cote d’Ivoire “for real business” and fully prepared to make Nigeria proud on the continental stage.
