Bayelsa Queens Chairman Applauds Governor Diri’s Reward, Calls It Boost Ahead of WAFU Tournament

Chairman of Bayelsa Queens FC, Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala, has commended Governor Douye Diri for his continued support and recent reward to the reigning Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions following their outstanding performance at the NWFL Super Six.

Pastor Apreala described the Governor’s gesture as a reflection of his unwavering passion for sports development, emphasizing that the reward further confirms his consistent commitment to celebrating excellence across all sporting disciplines.

“The Governor’s gesture is a tonic that will lift the team ahead of the WAFU Zone B tournament in Côte d’Ivoire this month,” Apreala stated. “The players will not rest on their oars until they return home with the WAFU Zone B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying trophy.”

He hailed Governor Diri and Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for transforming the sports landscape in Bayelsa State, attributing the team’s rise and the engagement of the state’s youth to their proactive leadership and investment in sports.

Apreala also extended his appreciation to the Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Grace Alagoa, the Ministry’s board members, supporters, and the media for their unwavering support.

Additionally, he praised the team’s sponsors, Premium Trust Bank, for rewarding the players and donating a bus to aid the team’s logistics, further strengthening their preparations for continental competition.
