Newly promoted NPFL side, Barau FC, has pulled off a major coup with the appointment of veteran coach Ladan Bosso as technical adviser ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The Kano-based club, which secured a historic promotion to the top flight last term, made the announcement through a statement released by the club’s Media Director, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, on Friday.
According to Gwale, Bosso’s appointment has been sealed, and finer details such as contract duration and his official unveiling will be disclosed in the coming days.
Bosso Brings Wealth of Experience
Ladan Bosso, a household name in Nigerian football, joins Barau FC after a spell at Bayelsa United, where he led the side through two challenging seasons. The former Flying Eagles head coach has managed several NPFL sides, including Kano Pillars, Wikki Tourists, Abia Warriors, and El-Kanemi Warriors, cementing his reputation as one of the league’s most experienced tacticians.
Barau FC’s leadership views his appointment as a statement of intent in their bid to not just survive but compete effectively in the elite division.
Working with Rabiu Tata
In a move to maintain technical stability, Bosso will work hand-in-hand with Chief Coach Rabiu Tata, who masterminded the club’s promotion.
“Coach Ladan Bosso is my boss. We’re already settled here in Kano and have aligned our plans to prepare strongly for the upcoming season,” Tata said.
“Our focus is to achieve the club’s target and make a strong impression in the NPFL.”
Eyes on Pre-Season
Barau FC are expected to resume pre-season training in the coming weeks, with the 2025/26 NPFL season set to kick off in mid-August, according to league organizers.
Bosso’s appointment marks a significant milestone in the club’s journey, and fans will be hoping his vast experience translates into top-tier success for the newcomers.
