The 23-player squad for the Super Falcons’ international friendly matches against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses has been announced, as part of their preparations for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Head Coach Justine Madugu has invited a mix of foreign-based stars and local talents, including team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Michelle Alozie and Osinachi Ohale, midfielder Toni Payne, and forward Rinsola Babajide.
The squad also features experienced players such as Francisca Ordega, Ifeoma Onumonu, and Jennifer Echegini, alongside promising home-based players like Shukurat Oladipo, Deborah Abiodun, and Emem Essien.
The Super Falcons will take on the Lionesses on Saturday, May 31st at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, followed by a second clash on Tuesday, June 3rd at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.
While Nigeria will use the matches to fine-tune tactics ahead of the WAFCON scheduled for July 5–26 in Morocco, Cameroon will use the games to maintain competitive form after failing to qualify for the continental tournament.
All 23 invited players are expected to report to camp at the Am2pm Hotel in Ijebu-Ode on Monday, May 26th.
Nigeria, nine-time African champions, will face Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana in Group B of the tournament.
