Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis has returned to Nottingham Forest following the expiration of his short-term loan at Blackburn Rovers, with no plans in place for a permanent move.
The Championship club confirmed his departure in their released and retained list published on Monday.
Dennis was among five loanees set to return to their parent clubs, alongside Owen Beck, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Dion Sanderson, and Cauley Woodrow.
The 27-year-old Nigerian had joined Blackburn in January in a bid to secure regular playing time after being frozen out of Nottingham Forest’s setup under head coach Nuno Espírito Santo.
He was excluded from Forest’s Premier League squad and did not feature in any domestic cup competitions during the first half of the season.
His stint at Ewood Park, however, proved underwhelming. Injury issues restricted him to just 222 minutes across seven appearances, only one of which was a start.
Dennis is now entering the final year of his contract with Nottingham Forest, but with Nuno still in charge, his long-term future at the City Ground remains uncertain, fueling transfer speculation ahead of the summer window.
In contrast, Blackburn chose to retain U.S. U-20 international Leo Duru, who impressed during a loan spell at League Two side Barrow, scoring his first senior goal in eight appearances.
