Kano Pillars Players after the game

Kano Pillars put up a commanding display by beating visiting Remo Stars of Sagamu by two goals to nil in an almost one sided affair on Sunday evening. Kano Pillars wins two out of their previous five league games while visiting Remo Stars failed to win any of their previous five games in the Nigeria professional football league.

Goals from new signing, Nwwgua Nyima and a thunderous strike by ever presence and energetic Kamal Sikiru ensures that the Sai Masu Gida side came out with all the three points. Pillars control the pace of the game from starts to finish with some exciting and intelligent tiki taka type of football that was dubbed by many to be the version of FC Barcelona of Spain type of football.

Pillars take the lead through Nwagua’s shot from a close range at the 15 minutes mark from a beautiful delivery by Bala Zaka. Zaka runs through Remo’s defender and his cross meets Nwagua who is in a good position to hit the target and took his chance beautifully into the back of the net.

Nwagua terrorised the Remo stars defenders all evening with his pace and power. He almost double Pillars lead at the 27 minutes of the game when Remo stars goalkeeper fail to clear from Cris Madaki’s cross.

Victor Mbaoma head at goal
The biggest surprise to many in the evening was the conspicuous omission of Victor Mbaoma’s name from the Remo Stars starting eleven for maybe tactical reasons but was introduced in the second half for C. Victor at exactly 46 minutes of the game.

Victor Mbaoma’s introduction means little to Coach Osho as he failed to have any impact in the game. Remo Stars first attempt on target came at exactly 30 minutes when Aliyu Isah hit a short from a close range but Pillars goalkeeper of the evening, Yusuf Muhammad was on the spot to make a save.

Remo got another chance when Dufegar Eric sprint through the right flank to deliver in a good cross but no one was there for Remo to score from the resulting cross.

Sikiru Kamal double the Sai Masu Gida’s side lead with a potentially wonder goal contender if not the wonder goal itself, striking a long range short that leaves Remo’s goalkeeper, Adekunle Tunde with no chance to stop it from going into the net. Sikiru Kamal was Kano pillars arguably most outstanding performer throughout the evening as he was handsomely selected by a panel of journalists as the man of the match.

The first half ended with pillars leading the contest by 2 goals to nil.

Before the restart, Remo Stars coach, Fatai Osho made a quick substitution to reduced pillars influence in the match as Aliyu Isah make way for Onuoha Chukwujekwu. In the other hand, Rabiu Ali almost got his name in the score sheets when he bullied the ball wide off target from Bala Zaka’s cross.

Remo Stars youthful team failed to break up the experience pillars side with their simple one touch football though, they had some beautiful chances from the counter attack but couldn’t manage to score from those chaces.  At 71 minutes, Kano Pillars were forced to make a substitution when Jamiu Alimi seems to receive a knock from a Remo stars player and was replaced by Joel Djondang.

Captain Ali was unlucky not to be on the score sheet as his shorts were either aimed directly straight to the goal keeper or wide off target and at 87 minutes, he almost score but his short again hit the cross bar.
