The League Management Company has been commended over its historic NPFL /La Liga U-15 football tournament which began in selected centres across the country. Speaking with the press in his Lagos office, the National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev. Samuel Ikpea, described the initiative by the LMC, as ground breaking. ” For so long, we have clamoured that our football clubs should have something like feeder teams to boost the production chains of talents in the country, ” Ikpea remarked.
” In recent times, this country have suffered from the dearth of quality talents in our local football. This initiative would see younger and fresher talented footballers coming to the fore, ” he added.
The seasoned administrator who was the former scribe of the NFSC, admonished all football stakeholders in the country to rally in support of the efforts of the Mallam Shehu Dikko led LMC to ensure that Nigerian football return to its enviable pride of place in the football community. He went on to disclosed that the supporters club have also mapped out plans to support and encourage the development of grassroots football in the country.
Chairman of the league management company Shehu Dikko is also excited at the prospects inherent in the first edition of the NPFL/LA LIGA Under-15 league which kicks off Monday April 10, across four centers. The first phase of the event holding in Osogho and Owerri, will run from April 10-15, while the second phase holding in Abuja and Kaduna will run from April 17-21. After that, the first and second placed finishers from all four groups will converge on Lagos from Tuesday April 25, for the last lap of the event, which is the quarter final, semi final and grand final. LMC chairman Shehu Dikko says he will personally be at match venues to savour the expected excitements from two weeks of beautiful youth football.
