The clash between two of Nigeria’s contingency to the CAF Confederation Cup, started very competitive for both teams but ended up one sided with the hosts having the better advantage. It took two minutes after the whistle blast for Wikki Tourist FC’s Chukwudi Samuel to try a long chip from the centre circle which the ball dropped behind the post for a goal kick. A minute later, the hosts had their corner cleared by FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s defence, the ball fell on to Richard Jonathan whose effort to keep the host in front sailed wide. Five minutes into the encounter FC Ifeanyi Ubah had a corner delivered in, Oni Jimoh headed the ball to Prince Aggreh who headed home Anambra Warriors only goal of the match. Six minutes later, the hosts tried to even the score as Chukwudi Samuel crossed the ball to
Richard Jonathan and the latter’s shot sailed off the mark. At the 13th minute, Prince Aggreh laid off a pass at the flank to Ngoma Luamba, the Congolese cross found an unmarked Eze Stephen in the box but his header was not good enough to give FC Ifeanyi Ubah a two goal cushion as the ball narrowly sailed wide. Seven minutes later, Wikki Tourist FC almost equalized, Chukwudi crossed the ball into the Anambra Warriors area, Lawal Abubakar flicked it to Richard who struck the ball but Anambra Warriors Kojo Baah deflected it for a corner. Two minutes later, the hosts had a freekick and Anambra Warriors Ezenwa Ikechukwu saved the Dead ball from Chukwudi Samuel. FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Ivorian striker Seka Pascal tried to push a solo attack but was fouled and the resultant freekick by Kojo Baah went over the mark at the 28th minute. Three minutes later, Once again Chukwudi Samuel tried a decent shot to draw the hosts level but the ball sailed wide. Thirty two minutes into the highly entertaining,
Cameroonian midfield mastero Tamen Medrano lashed a fine pass to Aggreh and latter’s sublime strike almost put Anambra Warriors in a two goal lead but the ball was punched for a corner by the host’s goaltender Gambo Gideon. At the 34th minute, Wikki Tourist had a counter, Richard Jonathan collects the ball and cuts in from the left before placing it beyond Ezenwa for the hosts equalizer. At that time Wikki Tourist now came into the game and pressed until the second goal came before the break. Five minutes from the break FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Eze Stephen failed to clear the ball, once again Richard Jonathan picked it up and made a run into the box before finishing the ball once again to put the hosts in front for the first time of the game. He was booked for removing his Jersey during the goal celebration. At the 43rd minute, Abubakar Lawal failed to capitalise on another defensive howler from the Anambra Warriors defence, as his shot from a close range went over the mark. From then it was less action until the center referee signalled for the break.
The game started on a high note for the Anambra Warriors but sadly slipped off our hands and ended badly. It was a game were all hopes were high, everybody went into it anticipating a better result, unfortunately the hosts had other plans which worked for them. Wikki Tourist FC took on FC Ifeanyi Ubah with all they had, which eventually paid them by earning three points and three goals. On a day the Nnewi Billionaires defence went to sleep, the Midfield failed to hold the game and create much chances for the strikers, the hosts came all out and smoking red.
