The Showtime Bowl Series XIII delivered another explosive round of action on Sunday, but while the scoreboards lit up across all five matchups, the standings remained unchanged — and so did the dominance of the Lagos Athletic Knights, who officially clinched the ₦2 million Regular-Season Championship Prize along with the prestigious new trophy inspired by the EPL Community Shield.
Playing before a capacity crowd at Showtime Arena — with over 120,000 viewers following live online — the Knights sealed their perfect campaign with a high-energy 35–29 win over the Warriors. It was the final confirmation of their undefeated run, placing them at the top of the table heading into the playoffs.
Earlier in the day, the Greenbacks overwhelmed Lagos Alpha 42–6, while the Lagos Rebels delivered one of the biggest wins of the season, crushing the Mainland Long Horns 64–13. Panthers Sports also flexed their strength with a commanding 35–6 victory over the Lagos Raptors, and Ikan Sports kept their playoff hopes alive, grinding out a tightly contested 30–21 win against the Lekki Braves.
Despite the flurry of goals and decisive margins, the standings held firm after Week 9:

This year marks the first time Showtime introduced a ₦2 million reward for the regular-season winner, a move applauded by stakeholders and fans as a major step in the league’s evolution.
Showtime President Azeez Amida described the season as “a massive win for Nigerian sports”, thanking the fans for turning the Arena into a fortress every Sunday and the thousands more who stream the league from across Nigeria, Africa, Europe, and the U.S.
“This league belongs to the people,” Amida said. “To see this kind of energy, passion, and global following shows what we’re building. Showtime is becoming the heartbeat of Nigerian sport.”
With the regular season complete, attention now shifts to the Playoffs, where six teams battle for a spot in the Showtime Bowl XIII — and the Knights, undefeated and unstoppable so far, enter as the overwhelming favourites.
