Nigeria international Paul Onuachu continued his impressive scoring streak in the Turkish Super Lig, netting his eighth goal of the season in Trabzonspor’s 1–1 draw with Alanyaspor on Sunday.
Onuachu Opens the Scoring
The towering forward put Trabzonspor ahead in the 15th minute, reacting sharply inside the box to slot home the opener and hand the hosts an early advantage at the Papara Park.
Despite their dominance in the first half, Trabzonspor couldn’t build on the lead, and Lanis Hagi leveled the score for Alanyaspor in the 73rd minute, capitalizing on a lapse in concentration from the home side.
Strong All-Round Display
Beyond his goal, Onuachu impressed with his overall involvement. The 30-year-old completed six passes, including three progressive passes into the final third, and registered one accurate long pass.
He also contributed defensively, recovering possession once a testament to his growing influence beyond just scoring.
His productivity came despite Alanyaspor’s deep, compact defensive setup, which restricted Trabzonspor’s attacking flow for much of the game.
Key Figure in Trabzonspor’s Attack
Onuachu’s strike brings his tally to eight goals and one assist in the Turkish top flight this season, reaffirming his role as Trabzonspor’s main attacking threat.
However, the draw offered little in terms of upward movement for the club. Trabzonspor now sits third in the league table on 25 points, trailing Galatasaray (29) and Fenerbahce (28).
Tekke: “We Didn’t Maintain the Intensity”
After the match, Trabzonspor head coach Fatih Tekke voiced his frustration over the team’s inconsistency.
“Our performance was below expectations,” Tekke admitted. “We started well with high pressing and energy, but we couldn’t sustain it. As Trabzonspor, one point at home is not good enough but based on how we played, it’s acceptable.”
The coach also called for collective improvement, urging both players and technical staff to “take responsibility for the dropped points.”
International Break Ahead
Onuachu will remain in Turkey during the international break, using the period to rest, recover, and continue sharpening his form ahead of Trabzonspor’s next fixture against Basaksehir.
