Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu has completed a permanent €5.6 million transfer from Southampton to Trabzonspor, locking in a return to the Turkish side where he thrived last season.
Onuachu, 31, spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Trabzonspor and was electric scoring 15 goals in 21 league appearances. His physical presence, aerial threat, and clinical finishing quickly made him a fan favorite and a nightmare for defenders across the Super Lig.
Trabzonspor’s decision to bring him back permanently isn’t just smart it’s strategic. With the new season kicking off on August 8, the club is clearly building around a proven goal-scorer as they aim to close the gap on title contenders like Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
Last season, inconsistency cost Trabzonspor a top-three finish. Now, with Onuachu leading the attack from day one, the club is sending a clear message: they’re not just playing for points they’re coming for trophies.
For Onuachu, it’s more than a transfer. It’s a revival. And for Trabzonspor, it could be the firepower needed to mount a real title charge.
