Bayelsa Queens FC has officially announced the signing of two prolific attackers, Janet Akekoromowei and Lucky Mary, ahead of the upcoming NWFL Premiership season and the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Janet Akekoromowei, the second-highest goal scorer in the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League season, joins from Nasarawa Amazons FC and will wear the club’s iconic No. 9 jersey. Her reputation for goal-scoring prowess and attacking quality is expected to boost the Prosperity Girls’ frontline.

Joining alongside Janet is Lucky Mary, who makes the switch from Abia Angels FC. She is set to don the No. 13 jersey and is known for her pace, creativity, and sharp instincts in front of goal.
Head Coach Whyte Ogbonda expressed satisfaction with the latest additions. “Janet Akekoromowei and Lucky Mary are both proven attackers with the hunger and talent to help us compete at the highest level. Their arrival will add depth, creativity, and more goal-scoring options to the team,” he said.
The coach further confirmed that the recruitment drive is ongoing. “We are still working to strengthen a few key areas to ensure we have a balanced, competitive squad ready to represent Bayelsa Queens with pride both at home and on the continent,” Ogbonda added.
Chairman Pastor Robin Apreala also welcomed the new signings and expressed gratitude to stakeholders. “We are truly grateful to God Almighty for the successful signing of Janet Akekoromowei and Lucky Mary,” he said while thanking the Bayelsa State Government and other supporters for their continued backing of the club.
Bayelsa Queens remain committed to building a formidable squad as they aim for success in both domestic and continental competitions.
