“Maiduguri is where i was born and the hierarchy of the club persuaded me to come and promote the team back to the premier league and stabilize it like I did with Gombe United.

Noting that the club is one oldest club in Northern Nigeria, he promised to do his best to return the Borno State-owned team back to the glory days.
Coach Zubair however called on the fans and supporters of the team to rally round him in the bid to get the club back to a strong footing.
It would be recalled that the El-Kanemi Warriors relegated from the elite league in the just concluded season.
