He was playing for Penang FA in the Malaysia Super League before taking his decision to joining up with SGFC. Gabriel Obatola aka OJ plays for Sisaket Football Club in the Thai Premier League, he started his footballing career with Gombe United in Nigeria before travelling out for greener pasture, he was named S-League Young Player of the Year in 2009, he has played different leagues and has scored over 100goals in his career.
Richard further said we decided to sign this two great strikers because of their strength, pace and ability to take on defenders and they fit in to the style of play and philosophy of the team and we hope they will be a great asset to the entire team.
Obatola said its like home coming and reunion with my friends in US, though it was really a disappointing time for me when i signed with Portland Timbers, i had only 6 appearances and scored only 1 goal against Seatle Sounders in a friendly but right now, i have more experience and i would do my best to help SGFC Eagles in American Soccer League (ASL).
