Kano Pillars secure a 3-2 victory over Niger Tornadoes in a thrilling Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Two encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.
The hosts take control early in the game as Ubong Friday opens the scoring before Fabian Nworie doubles their advantage to give Pillars a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Nworie continues his impressive display after the break, scoring again nine minutes into the second half to put Kano Pillars 3-0 ahead.
Niger Tornadoes, however, refuse to give up and begin their fightback as Godfrey Joseph pulls one goal back.
Wasiu Jimoh then scores a second for the visitors, giving them hope of completing the comeback.
Despite the late pressure from Niger Tornadoes, Kano Pillars hold on to their lead and secure all three points.
Elsewhere, Plateau United record their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Kwara United at the New Jos Stadium.
Alex Aghahowa scores the only goal of the game in the 29th minute to give Plateau United the maximum points.
In Lafia, Nasarawa United also secure a narrow 1-0 win over Bendel Insurance.
Sam Pam scores the decisive goal in the 55th minute as Nasarawa United claim all three points.
Meanwhile, Kun Khalifat FC and Barau FC play out a goalless draw at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, with neither side finding the breakthrough.
