Bright Osayi-Samuel has strongly rejected reports in Turkish media suggesting he made excessive salary demands during contract talks with Fenerbahçe S.K.
The 28-year-old described the claims as false and attention-seeking, insisting he never pushed for a new deal with the club.
“Many journalists in Turkey make up stories to get attention, but for me, the club knows that I never asked for a contract,” he said in a candid interview.
Agent Dispute Behind the Rumours

Osayi-Samuel revealed that negotiations had initially progressed smoothly with sporting director Mario Branco earlier in the season. However, complications emerged during a transition between agents.
He alleged that misinformation originated from his former representative, who had discussions with journalists without his consent.
“I saw a message from my old agent showing he had discussed this with a journalist behind my back, and it really pissed me off,” he explained, adding that he has since severed ties with the agent.
Gratitude to Fenerbahçe
Despite the controversy, Osayi-Samuel emphasized his appreciation for his time at the club, where he became a fan favorite.
“I’m grateful for playing at Fenerbahçe, so I would never demand such a ridiculous amount,” he said, describing the episode as a learning experience in the realities of modern football.
Beşiktaş Links Dismissed
The Super Eagles defender also addressed speculation linking him with a move to Beşiktaş J.K., firmly denying any involvement in such discussions.
According to Osayi-Samuel, any contact with Beşiktaş was handled solely by his former agent without his approval. He added that his loyalty to Fenerbahçe, reinforced by his family’s support for the club, made such a move unlikely.
New Chapter in England

After leaving Fenerbahçe as a free agent, Osayi-Samuel has signed a three-year deal with Birmingham City F.C., returning to English football ahead of the new season.
The move sees him rejoin the English game following previous spells with Queens Park Rangers F.C. and Fulham F.C.
Focus on Future
As he prepares for life at St. Andrew’s, Osayi-Samuel will be aiming to play a key role in Birmingham’s push for promotion while continuing to contribute at the international level with Nigeria.
His latest comments bring clarity to months of speculation, closing a turbulent chapter and allowing him to focus fully on the next phase of his career.
