Victor Osimhen has expressed deep gratitude to Galatasaray S.K. supporters after they organized an emotional tribute to his late mother ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool F.C.
The Nigerian striker took to Instagram shortly after Galatasaray secured a 1–0 victory at RAMS Park in the first leg of the round of 16 to thank fans for the touching gesture.
The tribute, which featured a banner honoring Osimhen and his late mother, left the forward visibly emotional during the pre-match lineup.
Osimhen Shares Emotional Message With Supporters
In a heartfelt message on social media, Osimhen admitted he struggled to hold back tears when he saw the tribute in the stands.
“Tonight was emotional for me as I struggled to hold back my tears. Seeing this show of love from Galatasaray fans, honestly, is something I will never forget for the rest of my life,” he wrote.
The former S.S.C. Napoli striker also praised the club’s supporters for the warm reception he has received since joining the Turkish side.
“From the first day I arrived, you welcomed me with so much love and respect, not only me but also my family and the people close to me,” he added.
Osimhen went on to highlight how moments like this remind him that football goes beyond what happens on the pitch.
“Moments like this remind me that football is bigger than just the game. It is love, loyalty, and unity.”
The 27-year-old also promised to continue giving everything for the club whenever he steps onto the pitch.
“I promise to continue fighting for this badge, this club, and these amazing fans with everything I have every time I step on this pitch. Thank you for making tonight unforgettable. We are family.”

Before kickoff at RAMS Park, Galatasaray supporters unveiled a large tifo banner featuring Osimhen alongside his late mother with the message, “We are a family, and family is everything.”
The powerful display triggered chants across the stadium and an emotional reaction from the Nigerian international.
Galatasaray went on to claim a crucial 1–0 victory over Liverpool, with Mario Lemina scoring the decisive goal early in the first half.
The win gives the Turkish champions a slim advantage ahead of the return leg at Anfield.
