Osimhen & Onuachu Rule the Turkish Super Lig

The Turkish Super Lig once again played host to Nigerian brilliance, led by Victor Osimhen’s historic night in Galatasaray colours.

In a 3–1 victory over Fatih Karagümrük, Osimhen didn’t just score he rewrote history. The Super Eagles striker netted his 50th goal for Galatasaray, becoming the fastest player this century to reach the milestone, achieving the feat in just 59 games.

Fans were quick to praise the growing understanding between Osimhen and İlkay Gündoğan, noting that with proper service, the Nigerian striker remains virtually unstoppable.

Not to be outdone, fellow AFCON star Paul Onuachu also found the net for Trabzonspor, continuing his impressive domestic form and proving that his Morocco outing has only sharpened his goal-scoring instincts.

Premier League Impact: Awoniyi Breaks the Drought

In England, Taiwo Awoniyi delivered one of the standout moments of the weekend by ending a grueling 384-day Premier League goal drought.

Introduced off the bench against Brentford, Awoniyi produced a stunning solo effort powering past Sepp van den Berg before calmly finishing to seal the win for Nottingham Forest. It was his first league goal since January 2025 and a reminder of his clinical quality.

His compatriot Ola Aina also impressed, providing the assist for Forest’s opening goal and continuing his consistent run as one of the league’s most reliable full-backs.

At Craven Cottage, Samuel Chukwueze lived up to the hype, scoring a sublime “Thierry Henry-style” curler off the bench to inspire Fulham’s 21 comeback win. AFCON teammates Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were also involved in a memorable night for the Cottagers.

Akor Adams Breaks Records in Spain

In La Liga, Akor Adams is rapidly becoming a fan favourite at Sevilla.

The striker converted the decisive penalty in a 2–1 win over Athletic Club, securing Sevilla’s first victory in five matches. More significantly, Adams surpassed Rashidi Yekini on the all-time Nigerian scorers list in La Liga.

With three goals in his last two games, the forward’s form has sparked growing conversations about his African Player of the Year potential.

Italy & France: Mixed Fortunes for AFCON Stars

In Italy, Ademola Lookman remained a substitute for Atalanta as La Dea returned to winning ways following their Champions League setback.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru came off the bench for Lazio in a goalless draw away at Lecce, while Moses Simon was an unused substitute as Paris FC shared the spoils in Ligue 1.

Elsewhere, Chidozie Awaziem registered an assist, but Nantes fell to a heavy 4–1 home defeat against Terem Moffi’s Nice.
