AFCON: Akpabio Congratulates Super Eagles, Urges Team To Go All The Way

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their qualification for the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), urging the team to maintain their momentum and push for the ultimate prize.

Akpabio’s message followed Nigeria’s convincing 2–0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-final match played in Marrakech, Morocco, a result that secured the Super Eagles a place in the last four of the tournament.

The congratulatory message was conveyed on Sunday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh. In the statement, the Senate President described the national team as the “pride of Nigeria,” commending the players for their discipline, resilience, and unity on the pitch.

“I heartily congratulate the Super Eagles on their impressive 2-0 victory over Algeria, which earned them a well-deserved place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations,” Akpabio said.

He noted that the team’s performances have lifted the spirits of Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora, adding that their display reflects dedication and determination to succeed at the continental level.

Looking ahead to Wednesday’s semi-final clash against host nation Morocco, Akpabio urged the players to remain focused and resolute despite the challenge of facing the tournament hosts.
