Atalanta’s Belgian international forward Charles De Ketelaere has heaped praise on teammate Ademola Lookman for his outstanding performance against Eintracht Frankfurt in their recent UEFA Champions League encounter.
The former African Footballer of the Year delivered a stellar display as the Bergamo side swept aside the Bundesliga club 3-0, scoring once and providing an assist in a dominant showing.
Manager Raffaele Palladino opted for the same attacking trio that started the 2024 Europa League final in Dublin, deploying Lookman alongside Gianluca Scamacca and De Ketelaere in a fluid, dynamic frontline.
Speaking during Monday’s pre-match press conference, De Ketelaere tipped Lookman to be a decisive figure again when Atalanta face world champions Chelsea on matchday six of the Champions League.
When asked about Scamacca’s development, the Belgian said:
“Very good. In Frankfurt, we returned with the same three-man attack from the Dublin final, along with Lookman, and we played well together.
“He’s improving, and I’m happy for him.”
Lookman’s Champions League form has been exceptional, with nine goal involvements six goals and three assists in his last ten appearances.
However, the 28-year-old heads into the Chelsea clash hoping to break an unwanted streak, having failed to score in five previous matches against the Blues during his time in England.
