Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is officially joining the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Pisa SC coach Alberto Gilardino publicly verified the release of the Inter Milan loanee, stating the 21-year-old will depart for international duty immediately following their Serie A fixture against Lecce. This announcement concludes intense speculation regarding Akinsanmiro’s availability for the continental championship.
The call-up, following his inclusion in Nigeria’s 54-man provisional squad last week, underscores the rapid ascent of the former Beyond Limits star. His consistently strong performances in the Italian midfield since moving to Pisa have clearly impressed the national selectors.
Akinsanmiro is now expected to link up with the Super Eagles when their training camp commences on Monday, December 15, where he will vie for a coveted spot in the final tournament.
