Super Falcons striker and six-time African Women’s Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, delivered a ruthless hat-trick to propel Al Hilal into the semi-finals of the Saudi Women’s Premier Challenge Cup, sealing an emphatic 5–0 victory over Eastern Flames on Saturday.
The Nigerian forward, who arrived at the fixture with six league goals from seven appearances, once again underlined her importance to the Riyadh-based club with a dominant display at the Al Taraji Club Stadium.
Oshoala’s clinical performance has further boosted Al Hilal’s ambitions of ending their long wait for silverware, as they chase their first trophy since winning the Kingdom Women’s Community Football League title in 2020.
Oshoala Sets the Tone Before the Break
Al Hilal asserted control from the opening exchanges, dictating possession and pinning Eastern Flames deep in their own half with sustained attacking pressure.
Their dominance was rewarded before half-time when Oshoala broke the deadlock, finishing calmly to hand Al Hilal a deserved lead at the interval after a commanding team performance.
Second-Half Onslaught Seals the Rout
The Nigerian striker wasted no time after the restart, doubling Al Hilal’s advantage with another composed finish early in the second half.
Eastern Flames struggled to cope with Al Hilal’s relentless attacking intensity as the pressure continued to mount. Oshoala completed her hat-trick later in the contest, converting Al Hilal’s fourth goal to register her first treble of the season.
A fifth goal rounded off a one-sided encounter, sealing the 5–0 scoreline and confirming Al Hilal’s progression to the last four.
Group A Standings Confirm Qualification
The comprehensive victory ensured Al Hilal finished second in Group A, behind Al Nassr, who topped the group with a perfect record.
Al Qadisiyah ended the group stage in third place, level on points with Al Hilal but trailing on goal difference.
With a semi-final berth secured, Al Hilal will now look ahead with confidence as they continue their pursuit of silverware in the Saudi Women’s Premier Challenge Cup.
