Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has put to rest speculation about his future at Atalanta, reaffirming his full commitment to the Serie A club despite continued links to a January transfer.
The 26-year-old forward’s situation at the Gewiss Stadium has been under intense scrutiny, with Turkish giants Galatasaray reportedly keen to secure his services in the upcoming transfer window.
However, Lookman has dismissed these rumors, stating that his focus remains firmly on helping Atalanta succeed under new head coach Raffaele Palladino.
Speaking to Sky Sport following his pivotal performance in Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League, Lookman addressed the summer transfer saga that had created tension between him and the club’s hierarchy.
The Nigerian international revealed that while the past is behind him, he is fully dedicated to the present and the team’s objectives.
“What happened in the summer is in the past. Some people know exactly what happened, others don’t. What’s certain is that right now I’m focused on where I am now and on winning as many games as possible with Atalanta,” Lookman said.
The winger, whose contract with Atalanta runs until 2027, also praised the tactical philosophy of Palladino, who replaced Ivan Juric at the helm this season.
Lookman expressed his excitement for the team’s attacking style, which he believes suits his strengths.
Lookman’s impressive showing in the Champions League has provided a timely boost for Atalanta and the Nigerian national team, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
His form had been affected by the summer transfer talks, but his recent performances suggest he has put those distractions behind him and is fully focused on helping Atalanta continue their strong campaign.
