Paul Onuachu’s outstanding season in Turkey reached another milestone as the Trabzonspor striker picked up the Super Lig Goal of the Month award for his breathtaking acrobatic strike against Samsunspor.
The Nigerian forward received the award in a brief ceremony before Trabzonspor’s 2–0 victory over Eyupspor on Saturday. The club also presented him with a special commemorative plaque featuring an image of the Goal, a stunning overhead finish that has been widely tipped as an early contender for the Goal of the Season.
Onuachu has been in red-hot form since the start of the campaign, netting seven goals and one assist in ten appearances, making him one of the league’s top scorers and a key figure in Trabzonspor’s title push.
Although his four-match scoring streak ended against Eyupspor, the 30-year-old still delivered a solid all-round performance, registering two shots on target, creating two key chances, and completing 19 passes. His intelligent link-up play and movement off the ball once again highlighted his value beyond goals.
Speaking after receiving the award, Onuachu expressed gratitude to his teammates and fans:
“I’m happy for the recognition. It was a great goal, but it came from a great team effort. The support here has been incredible.”
Next up for Onuachu is a high-profile clash against Galatasaray, where he will face off against compatriot Victor Osimhen, who has been in blistering form with six goals and one assist in his last five appearances for club and country.
