Nigeria’s in-form striker Joy Omewa continues her red-hot run in Denmark, finding the net once again to help Fortuna Hjørring secure a 2–2 draw against FC Nordsjælland in a thrilling Danish A-Liga Round 10 clash on Saturday afternoon.
The 22-year-old forward, who recently earned her first Super Falcons call-up for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, once again proved decisive for her club.
Omewa struck in the 66th minute, timing her run perfectly before finishing calmly inside the box to restore her team’s lead. Though Anna Walter’s late effort ensured a share of the points for Nordsjælland, Omewa’s influence remained undeniable, extending her scoring streak to eight consecutive matches across all competitions.
100th Appearance Milestone
The goal comes just days after Omewa marked her 100th appearance for Fortuna Hjørring, a milestone she celebrated in style by netting the winner in their UEFA Women’s Europa Cup victory over Vorskla Poltava earlier in the week.
From Lokoja to Hjørring and Now the Super Falcons
Born in Lokoja, Omewa began her career at Confluence Queens in Nigeria’s NWFL Premiership before making the leap to Denmark, where she has developed into one of the league’s most clinical finishers.
Her relentless form has finally earned her a maiden invitation to the Super Falcons, joining Justin Madugu’s 21-player squad for the crucial 2026 WAFCON Qualifiers doubleheader against Benin Republic.
Omewa has since arrived at the Falcons’ training camp in Lomé, Togo, as Nigeria steps up preparations for Friday’s first-leg encounter.
