Ademola Lookman’s search for his first goal of the season continued on Sunday as Atalanta were held to a goalless draw by Lazio in their Serie A clash.
The Nigerian forward, who featured for 82 minutes, showed his usual energy and movement but once again failed to convert his efforts into goals.
Lookman’s best chance came in the 50th minute, when he headed wide from a pinpoint cross by Charles De Ketelaere. Despite being active in attack, he completed just one of four dribbles, registered 19 passes, and created one big chance while delivering two accurate crosses.
Off the ball, Lookman worked hard defensively, making two tackles, one interception, and four recoveries, while winning three ground duels.
The result means Lookman’s goal drought now stretches to seven matches for both club and country.
Despite the stalemate, Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric praised the winger’s overall display:
“I thought Ademola made the right moves and created a few chances,” Juric said.
“We also saw the real Ederson today, and this means we can look to the future with confidence. The team is playing good football; we’re just missing the end product.”
Atalanta currently sits eighth in Serie A, with two wins and two draws from their opening seven matches, trailing AC Milan by five points and the Champions League spots by four.
