Nigerian second-division side Mahanaim FC has officially confirmed the transfer of their teenage striker Aliyu Imran to Czech Republic club SK Prostejov in a deal that underscores the growing reputation of Nigerian youth talent in European football.
The 19-year-old Kaduna-born forward has signed a three-year contract with the Czech second-tier outfit following a successful trial period. Standing at an imposing 1.96m, Imran developed through Mahanaim FC’s ranks, where his remarkable 1.3 goals-per-game ratio in the senior team caught the eye of European scouts.
Imran’s move was finalized after he impressed during Mahanaim FC’s 2024 annual scouting event in Abuja, where his pace, power, and clinical finishing made him a standout prospect. His transition to European football was further solidified during his adaptation period in the Czech Republic, where he quickly acclimated to the demands of professional football.

In an emotional statement, the young striker expressed his gratitude to Mahanaim FC, describing the transfer as a “dream come true.”
“I can’t describe how I feel right now. I owe so much to everyone at Mahanaim FC, my coaches, teammates, and especially our Sporting Director, who has been like a father to me. SK Prostejov has welcomed me warmly, and I’m ready to give my all for this club,” Imran said.
Mahanaim FC’s Director of Media, Mr. Olaoluwa Aro, praised Imran’s character and work ethic, stating:
“Imran is a resilient, patient, and responsible young man. His dedication to improvement was evident every day in training. This transfer is a proud moment for our academy, and we wish him the very best in his professional career.”
SK Prostejov, competing in the Czech National Football League (FNL), gains a physically dominant forward with aerial prowess, intelligent movement, and a natural eye for goal. If Imran adapts quickly, he could become a key figure in their push for promotion.
Imran’s move continues the trend of young Nigerian talents securing European moves from domestic academies. With his technical and physical attributes, he could follow in the footsteps of other Nigerian stars who made their mark in Europe after starting at home.
As he begins this new chapter, all eyes will be on whether the 19-year-old prodigy can translate his Nigerian league form into success in Europe.
