President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Habu Gumel, has extended a public invitation to Nigerians to participate in the Olympic Marathon Walk, scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Abuja.

Speaking to the press in the Federal Capital Territory, Gumel emphasized the importance of the event in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, urging Nigerians of all ages to come out and take part.

“I would like to see no fewer than 250 participants at this year’s walk,” he said. “I invite people of all ages to come out, have fun, and use this walk to stay fit.”

For the first time, both the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the Director-General, Bukola Olapade, are expected to lead the walk alongside Gumel, further signaling the growing importance of grassroots fitness initiatives.
