Italian Serie A Women champions AS Roma have secured the signing of Nigerian international Rinsola Babajide on a three-year deal, keeping her at the club until June 2027.
The 27-year-old winger arrives as a free agent following a stellar 2024–25 campaign with Spain’s UDG Tenerife, where she netted 10 goals and contributed five assists in Liga F. Her dynamic performances caught the attention of top European clubs, with Roma winning the race for her signature.
Babajide, renowned for her explosive speed, dribbling ability, and attacking creativity, began her career in England, featuring for Millwall, Watford, Liverpool, and Brighton before making the move to Spain in 2022. She initially played for Real Betis before joining Tenerife, where her standout displays earned her a high-profile transfer to Italy.
Expressing her excitement about the move, Babajide said: “I am honored to join a club like AS Roma, with its rich history and ambitious vision. I look forward to giving my all for the team, growing as a player, and representing Nigeria proudly on this new stage.”
The forward has had an interesting international journey, having represented England at youth level between 2015 and 2019 before switching allegiance to Nigeria in 2023. She quickly became an integral part of the Super Falcons, making an instant impact by scoring and assisting in her senior debut during Nigeria’s 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) opener against Tunisia.
Babajide’s arrival is expected to strengthen an already dominant Roma side, who continue to set the standard in Italian women’s football while making strides in European competitions. With her pace, creativity, and goal threat, she could be a key figure in the Giallorosse’s quest for further silverware.
Fans will be eager to see how she adapts to Serie A as Roma prepare for another thrilling season ahead.
