The 2025 edition of AMAPRO Football Championship got underway in Ilorin, Kwara State on Monday with a flurry of goals and exciting actions across the four groups.
Defending champions Abraysports FC laid down an early marker in Group A with a convincing 3-1 victory over Unity FA, while other heavyweights like the Kwara Football Academy, KFA, NPFL Allstars, and Gaa Akanbi FC also began their campaigns on a winning notes.
At the Kwara Football Academy, KFA pitch, Abraysports FC got their chase for a hat trick of success with a solid performance against Unity FA.
Obadun Abdulrasheed opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, before Mustapha Ogungbenro grabbed a brace in the 65th and 87th minutes. Adebomi Olamilekan pulled one back for Unity FA in the 80th minute, but it proved only to be a consolation.

In the other Group A clash, Kasam FA and Laycon FA played out a pulsating 2-2 draw at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl.
Jamal Kamaldeen’s early double for Kasam (6’, 35’) was cancelled out by Olasunkanmi Muktar (22’) and Adelowo Pelumi (42’) for Laycon FA in an entertaining contest.
Dickalo FA edged DollyP FC by 1-0 thanks to a 10th-minute strike from Olawale Tosin.
Former champions, KFA claimed a spirited 3-1 comeback victory over an ambitious Gateway FA.
Ogunsusi Folajimi had given Gateway the lead in the 23rd minute, but KFA responded in style through goals from Fawas Sakariyau (penalty 39’), Ikechukwu Ifeanyi (56’), and Kehinde Ayinde (83’).
Gaa Akanbi FC secured a 2-1 win over Araba FC, with goals from Saa’d Abdulraheem (13’) and Adeloye Shola (70’). Araba had earlier missed a penalty through Rilwan Olanrewaju in the 24th minute, before Joshua Aiyenugba reduced the deficit late on.
In the other fixture, HMK FC and Da Faria FC settled for a goalless draw in a tightly contested game.
House of Prayers FC (HOP) and Discovery Talent FA played out a 1-1 draw. Adama Isiah gave HOP the lead in the 44th minute, but Discovery’s AbdulRazaq Muhammed equalised in the 75th minute.
NPFL Allstars produced one of the standout performances of the day, sweeping aside Excel FA by 3-0. Ajibade Suleiman stole the headlines with a brilliant hat trick, a first-half brace and a goal in the second half to complete the rout.
Actions continue on Tuesday with Matchday Two across the groups.
