The head coach of the Portugal Women’s national team, Francisco Neto, has extolled Nigeria’s Super Falcons for their impressive performance, describing the squad as the best African team ever.
This commendation came after both teams went head to head in a pre-AFCON friendly bout, which ended in a goalless draw.
The match took place in Lisbon, Portugal’s Capital, during which the nine-time African champions demonstrated astounding defensive and offensive will.
The Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, left an indelible impression on the minds of the adversaries with her robust and impactful performance.
Neto, who was taken aback, swallowed his pride and gave Super Falcons their flowers.
“Don’t forget our opponents are the best African Team ever,” he praised.
The coach also acknowledged the brilliant and astute skills of the Super Falcons’ midfielder, Christy Ucheibe, who clogged the wheels and irreversibly stalled every dangerous move of their Portuguese counterparts.
“Exceptional presence in midfield, and she was everywhere. Her reading of the game and ability to disrupt our transitions really impressed me,” Neto said.
The Super Falcons’ next friendly match is in Casablanca, where they will contend with the Black Queens of Ghana on Sunday to strategically and intentionally close up loopholes and brace up for WAFCON.
