Tobi Amusan didn’t win in Jamaica, but she made a statement.
The world record holder in hurdles stepped out of her usual lane and went head-to-head with elite sprinters in the women’s 100m at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston. She finished fourth, but clocked a season-best 11.18 seconds, her fastest time so far this year.
Jamaica’s Tina Clayton won the race with 10.98s, followed by the U.S.’s Jacious Sears (11.04s) and Jamaican Alana Reid (11.16s). But Amusan wasn’t far off.
She came into the race with an 11.30-second season opener. Now? She’s sharper, faster, and clearly building something.
For a hurdler stepping into a flat sprint at a major meet, this wasn’t just a warm-up; it was a warning. Amusan is adjusting gears, expanding her range, and rewriting what her peak looks like.
Fourth place never looked this focused. No hurdles, no distractions, just raw speed. And she’s only getting started.
