Super Eagles Domestic Stars Crave For Opportunity in CHAN 2025

The Super Eagles and Remo Stars forward, Sikiru Alimi, has expressed the intention of he and his colleagues to participate in the Championship of African Nations for this year.

The tournament with Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda playing host, is scheduled for August 2nd, raising hope of participation opportunity for home-based players like Alimi and his colleagues.

Expressing eagerness and excitement, Alimi noted that they were primed to go head to head with Sudan, Equatorial Guinea, and Senegal in Group F before the competition was abruptly deferred due to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Despite the postponement, the Remo Star forward, along with his colleagues, seems to maintain upbeat hope, eagerly awaiting the eventual kick-off of the competition in August.

Alimi’s disappointment and hope were reflected visibly in his words:
“We were really disappointed about the postponement of CHAN. It was really heartbreaking for most of us, because we were really set for the tournament. We prepared for it, and we were looking forward to it.
“Unfortunately, CAF said, ‘No, it won’t happen’. All the same, we are still looking forward to the tournament,” he concluded.
