Al Hilal’s ambitious quest for a marquee striker has hit a major roadblock after Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen turned down a staggering £650,000-per-week offer from the Saudi giants. Despite three lucrative attempts, including a fully arranged medical and travel plan, Osimhen declined the deal ahead of the June 8 deadline, leaving Al Hilal scrambling for alternatives just days before the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off.
The rejection stunned many across Europe, especially in the Premier League, where it was widely assumed the Napoli striker would make the lucrative switch to the Middle East. Instead, doors have reopened for a potential return to Galatasaray, where Osimhen starred on loan last season, and Juventus, who are also reportedly in the mix. Paris Saint-Germain may also reignite their interest after failing to agree on a fee with Napoli last summer.
Back in England, Chelsea and Manchester United are watching closely. However, any deal would hinge on Osimhen adjusting his wage demands, especially with United missing out on Champions League football next season.
New Targets: Nunez, Richarlison… and Two Premier League Midfielders
With Osimhen out of reach, Al Hilal are now eyeing Darwin Núñez (Liverpool) and Richarlison (Tottenham) to spearhead their attack. Both forwards have had mixed spells in England but remain high-profile names that fit Al Hilal’s ambitions.
The Saudi club is also considering midfield reinforcements. Bernardo Silva, who has one year left on his Manchester City contract, is a top target. Silva’s versatility and pedigree of over 400 appearances under Pep Guardiola make him an appealing option. Although he has publicly expressed a desire to return to Benfica, a lucrative offer could turn his head.
Another candidate is Youri Tielemans, fresh off a stellar season with Aston Villa, where he contributed five goals and ten assists in 53 appearances. The Belgian midfielder earned both the Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Season awards and still has two years left on his current deal.
With the Club World Cup around the corner, Al Hilal faces Real Madrid on June 18. Time is running out for the Saudi side to land a statement signing. Whether it’s a final push for a striker or a shock midfield swoop, the next few days could define Al Hilal’s global campaign.
