
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will face a familiar and tactically discipline rival, Senegal, in the quarterfinals of the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The fixture was confirmed following the conclusion of Group A matches on Thursday night, where Senegal emerged as group winners.
Defending champions Senegal kept their title defence alive with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over DR Congo in their final Group C match at the TotalEnergies CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Suez.
Nigeria finished in second position in Group B with five points, will now lock horns with one of the tournament’s early favorites in what promises to be a titanic knockout showdown.
The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled for Monday, 12th May, 2025 at 1PM Nigerian time in Ismailia, Egypt.

The Flying Eagles are unbeaten in the group stage, the team arrived in Ismailia earlier in the week and have been fine-tuning preparations under the watchful eye of head coach Aliyu Zubairu.
The team remains focused and united in its quest to book a ticket to the FIFA U-20 World Cup by reaching the semifinals.
Team captain Daniel Bameyi, speaking ahead of the announcement, said: “We’ve come this far by staying disciplined and focused. Now that it’s Senegal, we know what’s at stake. It’s all about getting the job done and taking that next step.”
