Victor Osimhen Transfer Saga: Juventus Dream of Shock Summer Deal Despite Saudi Threat

4 Min Read

The Victor Osimhen transfer drama is set to take center stage once again this summer, with fresh reports from Italy claiming that Juventus are ‘certain’ to attempt a blockbuster swoop for the Nigerian striker. The 26-year-old, currently enjoying a prolific loan spell at Galatasaray, has become the most talked-about striker in Europe, with his future still uncertain as Napoli seek a clean and quick sale.

After a chaotic and drawn-out summer in 2023, which left both Napoli and Osimhen frustrated, the reigning Serie A champions are determined to avoid a repeat. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Napoli are keen to finalize a deal early in the window to get Osimhen off their books permanently.

Having scored 28 goals in 32 appearances for Galatasaray this season, Osimhen’s stock remains high. However, Chelsea, long linked with the forward, is reportedly no longer pursuing a deal, while Manchester United, dealing with sporting instability and financial constraints, may also drop out of the race. According to David Ornstein, the growing “consensus” is that Osimhen could end up in Saudi Arabia, where clubs are ready to meet his high wage demands and Napoli’s asking price.

But now, Gazzetta dello Sport claims Juventus are ready to shake up the market with a shock bid to bring Osimhen back to Italy this time in black and white. Their interest is driven by Cristiano Giuntoli, the man who initially brought Osimhen to Napoli from Lille in 2020. Giuntoli is under pressure following a disappointing season and is eager to get the summer window right after the failed Thiago Motta experiment.

With Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik likely to be sold, and PSG loanee Randal Kolo Muani struggling for form, Juventus are preparing for a major overhaul of their attacking line. Osimhen is seen as the ideal marquee forward to lead this new era.

Despite their intent, Juventus faces serious obstacles in its pursuit. Osimhen’s contract includes a €75 million release clause, but it is only valid for foreign clubs, meaning any Italian side, including Juventus, must negotiate directly with Napoli, likely pushing the price significantly higher.

Additionally, Osimhen commands a massive salary, and he’s made it clear he’s not willing to take a pay cut. That puts Juventus, who have trimmed their wage bill in recent years, in a difficult position.

Should the dream of signing Osimhen prove financially out of reach, Juventus may turn to Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, another Nigerian attacker who is expected to leave his current club this summer. Lookman has been in fine form and could provide a more financially viable option for the Bianconeri.

As it stands, no destination is guaranteed for Victor Osimhen. While Juventus are determined to bring him back to Serie A, financial reality might derail their ambitions. Manchester United and Chelsea are still lurking, albeit cautiously, while Saudi clubs appear the most capable of meeting all demands.

One thing is clear: Osimhen’s future will dominate headlines this summer, and whichever club secures his signature will be getting a world-class forward entering his prime.
