Nigerian League: Remo Stars Emerge Champions

By Sport Flames 1 Min Read

Sunday marked a historic moment and monumental milestone for the Remo Stars as champions of the Nigerian Professional Football League.

Remo Stars inscribed their names indelibly in the annals of history by becoming the first South West Club to claim the NPFL title in 25 years since Julius Berger smiled home with the trophy in 2000.

The Sky Blue Boys dismantled Niger Tornadoes 1-0 at the Remo Stars stadium on Sunday to accomplish this feat. The club currently tops the league with 68 points, dubbing a 10-point gap ahead of Rivers United who is second on the table.

The Ikenne based club has made a spectacular outing this season with the managerial shrewdness of the coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, who doubles as Super Eagles assistant coach.

The milestone is significant and signals optimism riddled with audacity to end a long night of a quarter-century failure, which has denied the entire Southwest region title.
