SGFC Eagles are back to winning ways after a frustrating game against Philadelphia Fury, they host Mass United at home who are third on the Log and Mass United hoping to cause an upset but they were whitewashed by the Eagles 3 – 0. We know this is really very important game playing Mass United because we know how vital the three points are and also playing in front of our darling fans enthused ” Coach Richard Opanuga.

After the Fury’s game we rested for one week and we were able to perfect and correct all our errors, we also embark on some tune up games to keep our boys in shape and returning back to league game facing Mass United the weather was permitting although hot 86°,  the result would have been better than this because we had planned to make up for our last loss against Fury. Every steps of our match was guided and played tactically  which paid of after 95 mins on Sunday.

The Mass United Fc played back to back and has been longing to have a head way over the SGFC Eagles. They seemed to identify a problem in the way we play and have curiously sought after USL and 3 ASL experienced players on loan this season to enable them get to the top of league table.

At the blast of the whistle in First half both team really showed Professionalism and created begging chances but attackers fail to convert, Eagles midfielders were more proactive and was able to draw the first blood in the 23rd mins of the first half by amazing forward Alex Adelabu who link up with the team recently after a 2 weeks training in England bringing his goal tally to 4 goals in 3 games.

SGFC Eagles pattern seems easy as Mass United boys were penetrating the defence line seamlessly but to no conquer. The efforts to counter eagles made matter worse which brought about additional goal through break away from Chiek Bangura through a leading pass from Manhebo Gouhan to Mohamed Jawara astonishing fast paced into the Mass United box 18 still in the first half when the second goal was netted at 38th mins caused by defensive error from William of Mass United.

Second half started calm as both team were passing the ball around but Mass United showed more tenacity and it was apparent that they wont give up as they made 3 substitution from the bench hoping to redeem themselves, it look more stiff for SGFC Eagles at home and it was obvious that the Mass United boys were furiously aggravated and both teams find it tough to understand what strategy to adopt.

Defensive Obinna Iloka sent a long range pass to Nyakeh Kamara and made a one touch to Mo Jawara SGFC Midfield Maestro, In his quest to beat a defender he anticipated the goalie stand far out and redirect his position onto the left and decoy the shot with his left and the ball smiled at the back of the net at exactly 64th mins.

Coach Paulo Ocampo make few changes as he introduce Davidson Celidor, Sebastian Gallego, Uzo Iloka and Emmanuel Oladejo to make a new look for more cohesiveness. SGFC Eagles has made it a tradition by not loosing at home stadium.

We bound to travel next week as we take on Philadelphia Atoms for away combat.
